Bold, Pared-Back Lines for Contemporary Facades

Stria™ Cladding occupies a specific position in the Hardie™ Exteriors range: it’s the horizontal-groove companion to Axon™’s vertical groove, giving architects a matched pair of contemporary, deep-shadow profiles that share the same clean, bold, pared-back aesthetic and can be used independently or combined on the same facade. Where Axon™’s grooves are narrower and more frequent, Stria™’s 15mm grooves at 300mm intervals create a bolder, more architectural statement, the kind of facade language that suits homes with simple, confident forms rather than fussy detailing.

Two widths, 325 mm standard and 405 mm wide, are both 14 mm thick with a square horizontal edge and a deep shiplap-jointed groove. Both can be installed horizontally or vertically, and orientation flexibility using the vertical flashing stop accessory means Stria™ isn’t locked into a single visual direction the way many horizontal cladding products are.

Two Profiles for Two Visual Scales

Stria™

325mm Standard Profile

The narrower of the two profiles has a finer, more frequent horizontal rhythm across the facade. Suits smaller building forms and details where a more refined groove frequency is the design intent.

Stria™

405mm Wide Profile

The wider profile creates a bolder, more graphic horizontal statement with a lower groove frequency, often used on larger facade areas or where the design calls for a more restrained, confident line.

Where Stria™ Cladding Works

Modern coastal residential

Stria™’s clean, bold horizontal lines suit the contemporary coastal aesthetic, pared-back forms, simple massing, and a material palette that reads as considered rather than decorative. Engineered specifically to stand up to coastal conditions.

Townhouse and multi-residential developments

On townhouse and medium-density projects, Stria™’s horizontal orientation and panelisation flexibility make it straightforward to achieve a consistent, contemporary facade language across multiple dwellings with shared or repeated cladding elements.

Combined with Axon™ for layered facades

Horizontal Stria™ on a lower storey with vertical Axon™ above is one of the most-used facade compositions in the Hardie™ Exteriors range; the two products share visual language (deep grooves, bold shadow lines, and pre-primed finish) while reading in opposite directions.

Vertical installation for a different statement

Stria™ isn’t locked to horizontal orientation, installed vertically with the flashing stop accessory, it delivers a genuinely different facade character while using the same board and fixing system.

Combining Stria™ with Other Hardie™ Exteriors Products

Axon™

Horizontal Stria™ paired with vertical Axon™ is the signature layered facade composition in the Hardie™ Exteriors range; the two profiles share visual language while running in opposite directions.

Linea™

Both horizontal profiles with deep shadow lines, Stria™'s more contemporary square-edge groove alongside Linea™'s traditional weatherboard character, are useful for zoning different facade areas with related but distinct aesthetics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Stria™ 325mm and 405mm profiles?
Both profiles are 14mm thick with the same 15mm groove at 300mm intervals and the same shiplap joint system; the difference is purely the board width. The 325mm standard profile gives a finer, more frequent horizontal rhythm; the 405mm wide profile gives a bolder, wider board appearance with fewer joints across the same wall area. Both can be combined or panelised on the same project.
Yes. While Stria™ is most commonly installed horizontally, it can also be installed vertically using the vertical flashing stop accessory. This gives architects genuine orientation flexibility with a single product; vertical Stria™ delivers a different visual character to horizontal Stria™ while using the same board and fixing system.
Yes. Stria™ Cladding is engineered to stand up to harsh Australian environments, including coastal conditions, and is resistant to rot, moisture damage and termite attack, with dimensional stability that resists swelling, movement and warping. It’s a commonly specified product on coastal residential projects across Australia.
Yes, this is one of the most common Hardie™ Exteriors facade combinations. Horizontal Stria™ cladding on the lower storey with vertical Axon™ Cladding above (or vice versa) creates a layered, multi-directional facade composition using two complementary profiles from the same product family, both pre-primed and non-combustible.
