Light, Shadow and the Oblique™ Difference
Dynamic shadow lines
The slanted groove edge means the depth and character of the shadow line changes with the sun's angle throughout the day, a quality that square-groove products can't replicate. Early morning and late afternoon light in particular create dramatic, elongated shadows across an Oblique™ facade.
Two widths, genuine layout variety
With 200mm and 300mm board widths available and the option to alternate boards or combine them in bespoke patterns, Oblique™ gives architects more compositional control than a single fixed-width groove product; every Oblique™ facade can be genuinely distinct.
14mm - a heavier, more substantial board
At 14mm thick, Oblique™ is noticeably more substantial than the 8–9mm panels used elsewhere in the range. That extra thickness contributes to a more three-dimensional, tactile board profile that reads as a deliberate, premium material choice rather than a standard sheet product.
4200mm lengths for tall, continuous walls
Most Hardie™ Exteriors boards top out around 3000–3050mm. Oblique™'s 4200mm option is specifically engineered to give tall walls a continuous, uninterrupted look, reducing the need for horizontal joints on double-height facades and feature walls.

Combining Oblique™ with Other Hardie™ Exteriors Products
Stria™
Oblique™ and Stria™ can be mixed to create bespoke facade patterns using the same installation system, a combination James Hardie explicitly documents as achievable within the shared fixing approach.
