The Timber Facade That Holds Its Colour for Decades

Timber wall cladding and composite decking have always made an awkward pair on the same project. The deck weathers. The cladding does something different. Two years in, the colours no longer match. Five years in, the cladding needs repainting, and the deck doesn’t. The material palette that looked cohesive at handover starts to read as two separate decisions that don’t quite belong together.

WoodEvo’s EvoClad™ cladding range is purpose-built to solve that. It’s a wood-plastic composite cladding system designed to match the WoodEvo decking palette, weather the same way, and be maintained the same way, a single material family that holds its visual cohesion across horizontal and vertical surfaces without ever requiring a painter on site. BAL29 rated, CodeMark certified, 12-year residential warranty.

About WoodEvo EvoClad™

EvoClad™ is WoodEvo’s composite wall cladding product, a deep castellated WPC board manufactured to bring architectural timber cladding aesthetics to wall surfaces in the same low-maintenance composite format as the WoodEvo decking ranges.
The castellated profile isn’t decorative; it’s structural. The stepped cross-section adds rigidity to the board, creates natural drainage channels for water management and produces a strong shadow line across the wall surface that reads with genuine material depth. At 216mm wide and 33mm thick, it’s a substantial board with a presence that commands the facade rather than sitting quietly on it.

The Castellated Profile - What It Does

Structural rigidity

The stepped cross-section distributes load more effectively than a flat board of equivalent thickness, contributing to the board's dimensional stability under wind loading and temperature cycling.

Shadow line depth

At 33mm, the castellated profile casts a strong, defined shadow line across the wall surface. The depth and quality of this shadow change with the light angle; the facade never looks the same way twice.

Natural drainage

Water doesn't sit on the castellated surface; the profile geometry directs moisture away from the wall face, reducing moisture accumulation and contributing to long-term surface appearance.

Consistent end-to-end

Unlike natural timber, where matching board profiles and grain across a large facade is a procurement challenge, EvoClad™ boards are manufactured consistently; every board looks like every other board, every batch.

Sustainability Credentials

EvoClad™ is one of the more credentialled composite cladding products in the market from an environmental standpoint. Up to 95% of the board composition is recycled material, a figure that compares favourably with most alternative external cladding systems, including many ‘sustainable’ timber products with complex supply chains.

Up to 95% recycled content

The WPC core is manufactured using recycled hardwood fibre and high-density polymer. The recycled content is consistent across all EvoClad™ boards, not a variable figure dependent on batch or supply availability.

Global GreenTag Certified

EvoClad™ carries Global GreenTag certification, independently assessed sustainability credentials that support Green Star documentation and LEED materials credits for projects with formal sustainability targets.

CodeMark certified

Independent certification that EvoClad™ meets NCC requirements, giving specifiers documentary evidence of compliance rather than relying on manufacturer performance claims alone.

No timber from native forests

The recycled hardwood fibre in EvoClad™ comes from post-industrial and post-consumer wood waste, not virgin timber from native forests. For projects with responsible sourcing requirements, this matters.

Why EvoClad™ and WoodEvo Decking Together

The most compelling reason to specify EvoClad™ cladding alongside WoodEvo decking isn’t just that the colours match; it’s that the materials behave identically over time. They’re both composite, both UV-stable, both maintained the same way and both aged by the same weathering mechanisms.
On a project where deck boards and wall cladding are visible from the same vantage point, a contemporary home with an outdoor living area, a commercial hospitality terrace, and a townhouse common area, the coherence of a single material family responding to the same conditions in the same way is an outcome that natural timber and composite combinations can never fully achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the composition of WoodEvo EvoClad™?
EvoClad™ is a wood-plastic composite (WPC) board, manufactured from recycled hardwood fibre and high-density polymer, with a thick HDPE or ASA polymer capping layer. The WPC core contains up to 95% recycled materials. The ASA capping provides the visible surface, scratch, fade and weather resistance, UV colour fastness and low maintenance.
BAL29 is a Bushfire Attack Level rating under Australian Standard AS3959; it designates products suitable for use on buildings in areas classified as having a Bushfire Attack Level of up to BAL29. In practice, BAL29 covers a significant proportion of Australian residential and commercial projects in designated bushfire-prone areas. EvoClad™’s BAL29 rating means it can be specified on these projects as a code-compliant external wall cladding material, which timber-based alternatives often cannot achieve without additional treatment.
Yes. EvoClad™ is designed to be colour-matched to the WoodEvo decking range; the colour palette is developed specifically to allow architects and designers to use WoodEvo decking on the horizontal surface and EvoClad™ on vertical walls in the same visual family. Contact our team or request samples to confirm colour matching for your specific project combination.
Yes. EvoClad™ is suitable for both external facade cladding and internal feature wall applications. The same properties that make it durable externally – dimensional stability, consistent colour, resistance to moisture – make it a practical choice for internal feature walls in bathrooms, commercial interiors and entry halls where a low-maintenance timber-look surface is part of the design intent.
EvoClad™ requires no painting, oiling, sealing or sanding. Maintenance consists of washing the board surface with water and mild detergent to remove surface dirt, dust, pollen or other contaminants. The ASA or HDPE capping layer maintains the colour and surface quality without any treatment over the 12-year warranty period.
