Structural Rhythm and Timber Warmth, No Oiling Required

Timber batten screens and feature facades have a quality that’s difficult to replicate in other materials, the rhythm of repeated linear elements, the play of light and shadow between boards, and the organic warmth of grain that makes a screen feel crafted rather than constructed. It’s a quality architects keep coming back to, across residential privacy screens, commercial facade articulation and hospitality environments where material warmth is part of the brief.

WoodEvo Premium PVC Battens bring that aesthetic to a product that genuinely performs in the Australian outdoor environment. Foamed PVC core, ASA polymer capping, UV Colour Fast technology and a 30-year residential warranty, the same advanced composite technology as the WoodEvo ADVANCED decking range, in two distinct profiles for different architectural applications. Available through CSP Architectural in Victoria.

Fixing options

Hidden screws or surface plugs – installation is fast regardless of fixing method.

Premium PVC Composite - What's Inside the Batten

WoodEvo Battens are manufactured with a foamed PVC core and an ASA polymer capping, the same construction as the WoodEvo ADVANCED decking range. This matters because the core and capping determine almost everything about how the product performs over its life.

Foamed PVC core

Rigid and dimensionally stable, won't warp, rot or swell with moisture. The foamed structure reduces weight without sacrificing the structural rigidity needed for screens and vertical facade applications.

ASA polymer capping

The visible surface layer. ASA provides exceptional UV resistance, scratch resistance and abrasion resistance, the surface that remains crisp and colour-stable after years of outdoor exposure.

UV Colour Fast technology

WoodEvo's UV Colour Fast technology is engineered to resist the solar fading that affects standard composite and painted timber battens in the Australian sun. The colour consistency you specify at installation is the colour you get for decades.

Natural grain finish

The timber grain aesthetic comes from the surface profile, not from a printed pattern. The texture is three-dimensional; it reads as genuine timber grain up close and at a distance.

The Colour Range

WoodEvo Battens are available in a curated palette developed to complement the WoodEvo decking and cladding ranges, enabling a single, cohesive material family across screens, facades and horizontal surfaces on the same project.

NatureCool™ Technology - Because Australian Summers Are Brutal

One of the persistent problems with dark composite decking in the Australian sun is surface temperature. Boards that absorb heat through the day can become genuinely uncomfortable to walk on barefoot by early afternoon, which defeats the purpose of a deck you’re supposed to enjoy in summer.
WoodEvo’s NatureCool™ technology is engineered to reflect sunlight rather than absorb it, the same principle as grass staying cooler than pavement in direct sun. On NatureCool™ colours, the deck surface stays up to 10–20°C cooler than standard boards under the same conditions. It doesn’t make your deck cold; it makes it walkable.

Where Woodevo Battens Works

Residential privacy screens

Between-property screens, courtyard boundary screens, balcony privacy panels and pool surround screening are the most common residential batten applications. The 50×25 mm profile creates a refined, close-pitched screen that balances privacy with air circulation.

Pergola and verandah panels

Side panels and end walls of pergola structures clad in WoodEvo Battens create the warm character of a timber pergola without the maintenance programme. The PVC composite handles the moisture exposure and UV loading that eventually affects even well-maintained timber battens.

Commercial facade articulation

Retail shopfronts, office building entries, hotel facades and commercial mixed-use developments using batten screening as a facade element. The 40×30 mm profile’s deeper section is well-suited to commercial-scale applications where the batten shadow line needs to read across a wider viewing distance.

Feature walls - internal and external

Vertical batten feature walls in residential living areas, commercial lobbies, restaurant dining rooms and retail spaces. WoodEvo Battens are suitable for both internal and external feature wall applications, consistent performance, consistent colour, and consistent grain across both.

Sun shading and louvred screens

The 40×30 mm profile’s depth makes it effective as a louvred sun shading element on east- and west-facing facades; the board depth provides useful solar shading at oblique sun angles while allowing air circulation through the screen.

The WoodEvo System Advantage

WoodEvo Battens are available in a colour range that matches the WoodEvo Decking and Cladding ranges, which is the key design advantage of the full WoodEvo system. A project that uses WoodEvo ADVANCED decking, EvoClad™ wall cladding and WoodEvo Battens for screening is working with a single material family that:

Ages identically

All three products use UV Colour Fast technology and composite construction, they weather at the same rate, maintain colour at the same rate and look like they belong together as the building ages.

Is maintained the same way

One maintenance conversation with your client: occasional wash-down. No timber-specific maintenance for the battens, a different programme for the decking and another for the cladding. One material, one answer.

Is colour-matched across surfaces

The same Oak or Antique Silver tone on the deck, the wall and the screen, specified with confidence that the colours will remain cohesive over decades, not just at handover.

Can be sourced from one supplier

CSP Architectural supplies all three WoodEvo ranges. One supplier, one order, one delivery, and one contact for any technical questions about the complete system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are WoodEvo Battens available in?
WoodEvo Premium PVC Battens are available in two solid profiles: 50 mm × 25 mm and 40 mm × 30 mm, both at 5400 mm length. The 50×25 mm profile is better suited to fine-pitch screening and residential feature walls; the 40×30 mm profile suits bolder facade articulation and commercial-scale applications where a deeper shadow line and more substantial material presence are the design intent.
Yes. WoodEvo Battens are manufactured with a foamed PVC core and ASA polymer capping, both materials are inherently resistant to moisture, UV and temperature cycling. The ASA capping is specifically formulated for outdoor use and provides the scratch, abrasion and UV resistance that external facade conditions require. UV Colour Fast technology further protects against the fading that standard composite and painted timber battens experience over time.
Shou Sugi Ban is a Japanese technique of charring timber to create a near-black, deeply textured surface with enhanced preservation properties. The WoodEvo Battens range includes a Shou Sugi Ban colourway that replicates the deep charcoal-black aesthetic of the traditional technique in a PVC composite format, without the variable weathering and ongoing maintenance that charred timber requires in outdoor conditions.
Yes. WoodEvo Battens are suitable for both external and internal applications. On internal feature walls, the composite construction means no off-gassing or moisture management concerns, and the dimensional stability of the PVC core means the battens won’t expand or contract with changes in indoor humidity. The grain finish and colour range are identical regardless of whether the product is used internally or externally.
WoodEvo products, decking, cladding and battens are currently available through CSP Architectural in Victoria. If you’re working on a project in another state, contact our team to discuss supply options. Arrangements may be possible depending on the project scale and programme.
