The Most Honest Facade Material Available

There’s a design philosophy that holds that the most beautiful thing a material can do is be itself, unprocessed, uncoated, unapologetically what it is. EQUITONE Natura is built on that philosophy. It’s raw, through-colour fibre cement with the least possible intervention between the material and the facade surface.

Where Tectiva has fine sanding lines and Lunara has a randomised wave texture, Natura has almost nothing done to it at all. The natural surface of the fibre cement is subtly revealed, rough, soft and genuinely elemental in a way that processed or coated panels can’t replicate. For architects working with natural material palettes, stone, timber, and raw concrete, Natura sits alongside those materials with complete authenticity.

Natura and Natura PRO: Two Versions

Natura is available in two versions that serve different project contexts:

Natura

Pure raw surface

The standard version. Natura, uncoated fibre cement with the raw surface texture of the base material. Every panel is unique, with subtle variations in surface character and tonal nuance from panel to panel. The surface absorbs and releases moisture naturally, which creates visual richness as the building weathers. The most minimal, most elemental EQUITONE product.

Natura Pro

Raw aesthetics, protected surface

Natura PRO applies a UV-hardened, anti-graffiti and scratch-resistant surface coating to the Natura panel, maintaining the raw, natural fibre cement aesthetic while adding the practical protection of a hardened surface. The coating is designed to be as visually transparent as possible: the surface still reads as raw, natural fibre cement, but with significantly enhanced resistance to graffiti, staining and mechanical damage. Ideal for ground-level applications and locations with high public exposure.

The Material Palette Argument

Natura is the product for architects who are making a deliberate argument about materials, about the value of authenticity, the beauty of unprocessed surfaces, and the honesty of letting a material speak without mediation. It sits alongside raw concrete, weathered steel, natural stone and rough-sawn timber as part of a material language that values substance over appearance.

Raw concrete palettes

Natura's grey tones and rough surface character align naturally with board-formed or fair-faced concrete, the same material honesty, without the weight and structural requirements of in situ concrete.

Timber and stone combinations

The warm undertones available in Natura work alongside natural timber and stone in landscape-integrated residential and commercial projects.

Industrial and adaptive reuse

On converted warehouse and industrial buildings, Natura's unprocessed surface reinforces the narrative of honest materials and authentic construction, a facade that looks like it belongs rather than being applied.

Minimalist residential

For residential projects where the exterior material is the architecture, not just the skin, Natura delivers a surface quality that communicates conviction and restraint simultaneously.

Living With Natura

The standard Natura panel has an open, uncoated surface that will develop a patina over time as moisture and natural deposits interact with the fibre cement. This weathering process is not a defect; it’s a characteristic of the material that most designers working with Natura regard as an enhancement. The surface becomes richer and more expressive over time rather than more uniform.

For locations where surface consistency needs to be maintained, high-traffic ground-level applications, and graffiti-prone urban settings, Natura PRO provides the same raw aesthetic with a hardened protective coating that resists staining and graffiti and is cleanable with standard maintenance products.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Natura and Natura PRO?
Natura’ is the standard version, raw, uncoated fibre cement with the natural surface of the material. Natura PRO applies a UV-hardened, anti-graffiti and scratch-resistant coating to the same panel, maintaining the raw, natural visual character while providing significantly enhanced protection against graffiti, staining and mechanical damage. The coating is intentionally transparent: Natura PRO still reads as raw fibre cement but with the practical protection that the standard version doesn’t have.
Yes. The uncoated surface of standard Natura absorbs and releases moisture, which creates subtle tonal changes as the panel wets and dries. Over time, natural deposits and atmospheric particulates interact with the surface, developing a patina that adds depth and richness to the panel’s appearance. This weathering behaviour is a designed characteristic of the product, not a deficiency; it’s why architects who specify Natura choose it specifically for buildings intended to age beautifully.
Yes, Natura is used across commercial, civic, cultural and residential project types. On residential projects, it’s typically chosen by architects working with natural material palettes, raw concrete, stone, and weathered timber, where the authenticity of the facade material is as important as its performance. Natura delivers both.
Concealed fixing using the undercut anchor (Tergo+) system is not available for 8mm Natura or 8mm Natura PRO; The panel thickness and surface treatment don’t support the undercut drilling required. The TUF-S concealed fixing system is available for the 12mm version. Face fixing is available for both thicknesses. For projects requiring fully concealed fixings in the 8mm format, consider Tectiva, Linea or Lunara, which support the full range of concealed-fix options.
