Behind the Wall, Where Performance Actually Lives
The facade gets noticed. What’s inside the wall determines whether the building actually performs, fire separation, acoustic comfort, moisture management and how fast the building can close in during construction. CSP Architectural’s plasterboard range covers both ends of that story: the rigid air barrier that closes a building in before external cladding is finished, and the complete internal plasterboard and framing system that finishes the job from the inside out.
Both product lines come from Siniat, an Etex Group brand and one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of interior and exterior drywall systems.
Siniat Weather Defence™
A 13mm rigid air barrier board used behind external cladding in rainscreen and ventilated facade systems. Makes the building weathertight before cladding is complete, letting internal trades get moving. Non-combustible, FRL-rated up to 120/120/120 and vapour-permeable across Australian climate zones 2–8.
CSP Plastamasta – Siniat
The complete Siniat plasterboard and framing range, Fireshield®, Soundshield®, Watershield®, Multishield® and Intershield®, plus metal framing, compounds and accessories. Supplied through CSP Plastamasta across Victoria and Queensland. GreenTag certified, with carbon-neutral options available.
Rigid Air Barrier vs Internal Lining - Different Jobs, Same Wall
Siniat Weather Defence™
Outside the frame
Fixed to the exterior face of the structural frame, behind the external cladding. Its job is to make the building weathertight during construction and to contribute to the fire and thermal performance of the completed wall assembly. It is not visible in the finished building and is not painted or decorated.
CSP Plasterboard - Siniat
Inside the frame
The internal lining and framing system on the room side of the wall — what gets painted, what carries fire and acoustic ratings between rooms and tenancies, and what supports fixtures, fittings and finishes inside the building.

What is the difference between Siniat Weather Defence™ and CSP Plasterboard – Siniat?
Siniat Weather Defence™ is a rigid air barrier board fixed to the outside of the structural frame; behind external cladding, it closes the building envelope before cladding is complete. CSP Plasterboard – Siniat is the internal lining and metal framing range (Fireshield®, Soundshield®, Watershield®, Multishield® and Intershield®) used on the room side of the wall for fire, acoustic and moisture performance, plus general internal wall and ceiling lining.
Where is CSP Plasterboard – Siniat available?
Through CSP Plastamasta, the Siniat plasterboard and framing range is available across Victoria and Queensland. Contact our team to confirm availability for your project location.
Is Siniat Weather Defence™ suitable for high-rise construction?
Yes. Siniat Weather Defence™ has a gypsum core and is classified as non-combustible under the NCC, with a fire resistance level of up to 120/120/120 or 90/90/90 depending on system configuration, suitable for Type A and Type B external wall construction, including high-rise commercial and multi-residential buildings.
Are Siniat plasterboard products environmentally certified?
Yes. A wide range of Siniat plasterboard products are independently certified by Global GreenTag to GreenRate Level A and recognised by the Green Building Council of Australia for Materials and VOC credits.
