Australia's Most Trusted Building Material, Three Ways

Fibre cement has earned its place as the backbone of Australian residential and commercial construction, non-combustible, low-maintenance, dimensionally stable and available in more formats than almost any other building material on the market. Rather than carrying a single fibre cement brand, CSP Architectural supplies three distinct manufacturers under this category, James Hardie™, EQUITONE and ExaPanel®, each bringing a different strength to the fibre cement conversation.
Whether you need the sheer breadth of the James Hardie™ range, the through-colour architectural honesty of EQUITONE, or the factory-finished consistency of ExaPanel®, the right fibre cement product for your project sits within these three brands.

James Hardie™

The broadest fibre cement range in Australian construction, covering external cladding, interior linings, fire-rated wall systems, commercial products and floor substrates. Twelve exterior profiles alone, plus five HardieSmart® fire and acoustic wall systems and a complete floor and commercial range.

Equitone

Through-colour fibre cement panels, where the colour and texture run the full depth of the material, cut edges, fixings and weathered joints are part of the design language, not problems to hide.

ExaPanel®

A pre-finished compressed fibre cement panel that arrives on site with no on-site painting required. Factory-applied coating means consistent colour across every panel regardless of when it was ordered, plus a graffiti-resistant surface that makes it a strong choice for schools, public buildings and high-traffic commercial facades.

What All Three Brands Have in Common

Non-combustible

All three fibre cement brands supplied by CSP are non-combustible and meet relevant NCC fire performance requirements, suitable for BAL-rated bushfire zones and buildings requiring non-combustible external wall cladding.

Low maintenance

Fibre cement doesn't rot, swell with moisture or attract termites the way timber does. Whichever brand you specify, ongoing maintenance is limited to repainting cycles rather than structural repair.

Backed by CSP's in-house services

Take-off service, custom cutting and specification support are available across all three brands, with one point of contact regardless of which fibre cement product ends up on your project.

Genuine choice, not overlap

Each brand occupies a different part of the fibre cement market: James Hardie™ for range and depth, EQUITONE for architectural material honesty, and ExaPanel® for factory-finished consistency. They're rarely competing for the same line item on a specification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fibre cement brands does CSP Architectural supply?
CSP Architectural supplies fibre cement products from three brands: James Hardie™ (the broadest range, covering external cladding, interior linings, fire-rated wall systems and floors), EQUITONE (through-colour architectural facade panels in six series), and ExaPanel® (factory-finished, graffiti-resistant compressed fibre cement panels).
For most residential applications, weatherboard, feature cladding, internal linings, and James Hardie™’s Hardie™ Exteriors and Interior Linings ranges cover the widest variety of residential design styles and budgets. EQUITONE is more commonly specified on architecturally ambitious residential projects where a raw, through-colour material aesthetic is the design intent. Contact our team to discuss which brand suits your specific project.
Yes. All fibre cement products supplied by CSP Architectural, across James Hardie™, EQUITONE and ExaPanel®, are non-combustible and are used extensively in bushfire attack level (BAL)-rated zones. Specific BAL ratings vary by product; our team can confirm the appropriate specification for your site’s BAL classification.
Yes. It’s common for a project to use James Hardie™ for general cladding and internal linings while specifying EQUITONE or ExaPanel® for a feature facade element or entry statement. All three brands are non-combustible fibre cement and can be specified together within the same building envelope.
