Corrugated Character, Without the Rust

Corrugated iron is one of the most distinctively Australian building materials, it’s been on the roofs and walls of sheds, farmhouses, rural outbuildings and inner-city adaptations for well over a century. The aesthetic has had a genuine renaissance in contemporary architecture, where the corrugated profile and industrial finish appear on everything from beach houses to urban townhouses to commercial fitouts.

The problem with actual corrugated metal in exterior cladding applications is weathering, rust, chalking, the UV degradation of coating systems, and the practical reality that corrugated steel in Australian coastal and tropical conditions requires ongoing maintenance and eventual replacement. Territory™ Ridge delivers the corrugated cladding profile in a 16mm cement-bonded panel with a hammered metal texture and deep square corrugations 35mm apart. It won’t rust. It doesn’t need painting. And it looks like no other prefinished cladding product on the market.

The Two Ridge Finishes

Both Ridge Black and Ridge White use the same corrugated panel and fixing system, the choice between them is a design decision rather than a performance one. Ridge Black suits darker material palettes and creates a powerful architectural presence, particularly on buildings in landscape or rural settings where the corrugated black facade references the Australian farm shed aesthetic in a contemporary register. Ridge White suits coastal, contemporary minimalist and commercial settings where the dynamic light reflection of the corrugations creates visual interest without the weight of a dark palette.

What Makes Ridge Different

Territory™ Ridge is not a flat panel with a printed metal texture, it is physically corrugated. The grooves and ridges are formed into the panel during manufacture, creating real depth that produces genuine shadow at oblique light angles. The surface texture adds an additional layer: a hammered metal patina, referencing the artisanal quality of hand-worked metal rather than the industrial uniformity of machine-pressed corrugated iron.

Physical corrugation depth

The corrugations are deep, square and tightly spaced at 35mm intervals, creating a strong, repeating linear pattern across the panel face. At this spacing, the corrugation reads as a precise rhythm rather than a structural texture, giving the facade a sophisticated character that distinguishes it from standard corrugated metal.

Hammered metal surface

Unlike smooth corrugated metal, Territory™ Ridge has a surface that references the texture of hand-hammered or beaten metal, irregular micro-texture across the face of each corrugation that catches light differently from any angle. This texture is what gives the product its distinctly industrial-artisanal quality.

No rust, no maintenance

The cement-bonded fibrous particle substrate doesn't rust or corrode, in coastal salt-air environments where corrugated steel requires constant maintenance, Territory™ Ridge performs without any treatment. The multi-layer paint system provides UV protection and colour fastness over the 10-year warranty period.

Two colours, two very different moods

Ridge Black creates a bold, sophisticated facade presence; the corrugations cast deep shadows at low light angles, giving the building intensity. Ridge White reflects light and creates sharp, shifting shadows across the panel face, a dynamic, visually active facade that reads differently throughout the day.

Where Territory™ Ridge Belongs

Rural and semi-rural residential

The corrugated profile has deep roots in Australian rural building culture. Territory™ Ridge brings that aesthetic to contemporary residential design, a farmhouse-style or rural-influenced home where the corrugated facade is part of a deliberate material reference without the rust and maintenance of actual corrugated steel.

Contemporary residential feature facades

In contemporary urban and suburban residential projects, Territory™ Ridge functions as a bold feature element, a street-facing garage facade, an entry pavilion wall or a freestanding garden wall where the corrugated profile creates a strong geometric statement.

Commercial and industrial-style buildings

Warehouses repurposed for commercial tenancies, hospitality venues in industrial precincts, creative studios and maker spaces, the corrugated metal aesthetic belongs in these contexts, and Territory™ Ridge delivers it in a material that handles commercial conditions without the ongoing maintenance that actual corrugated metal requires.

Coastal applications

Where corrugated metal cladding in a coastal or waterfront environment would face accelerated corrosion and weathering, Territory™ Ridge provides the corrugated aesthetic in a cement-bonded substrate that handles salt-air conditions without rust or surface degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Territory™ Ridge physically corrugated or just surface-textured?
Territory™ Ridge is physically corrugated; the grooves and ridges are formed into the 16mm cement-bonded panel during manufacture, creating real depth. The corrugations are deep and square, spaced 35mm apart, and they produce genuine shadow at oblique light angles. This is distinct from a flat panel with a printed or applied corrugated pattern. The hammered metal surface texture is an additional layer on top of the physical corrugation.
No. Territory™ Ridge is a cement-bonded fibrous particle panel; there is no metal in the substrate that can rust or corrode. Unlike corrugated steel cladding, which requires ongoing maintenance and coating management in coastal and tropical environments, Territory™ Ridge is explicitly described by Cemintel as suitable for corrosive environments. The corrugated profile and hammered metal aesthetic are achieved through the cement panel’s surface treatment, not through metal construction.
Yes. Unlike Territory™ Brick (which requires horizontal installation for the pattern to read correctly), Territory™ Ridge can be installed either horizontally or vertically. Vertical installation rotates the corrugations to run horizontally across the wall surface, creating a different but equally valid visual effect. The proprietary clip-fix system accommodates both orientations.
Yes. All Territory™ prefinished cladding products, including Ridge, are CodeMark Certified CM30048. This confirms compliance with NCC2022 Clause C2D10(6)(d) requirements for non-combustible materials and supports use in applications where NCC mandates non-combustible external wall cladding.
Territory™ Ridge carries a 10-year product warranty from Cemintel. The panel’s cement-bonded construction and multi-layer paint coating system are designed for long-term exterior performance, the 10-year warranty reflects confidence in the coating’s UV stability and colour retention, which is the primary performance variable in a prefinished cladding product.
